I tend to doubt it, especially with the ties I pointed to.
To: r9etb
And it is best to distinguish between rumor and fact...
To: cyncooper
I wasn't aware of the ties you mentioned -- although that also doesn't surprise me, especially since the fellow did seem to find his way to the media rather quickly...
Still, the pictures to seem to show that there were some pretty overt sexual overtones to the whole thing ... so even if this guy didn't get the handle, I'm willing to believe that somebody did. Just my opinion -- I have nothing to back it up.

"
One of the guys who was stripped naked, and forced on a pile of naked guys, while a lesbo American soldier is laughing was interviewed,"
IF...abc is correct..the chick that you refer to as a lesbo is REALLY the girlfriend of the guy in the pic.

Yes, it's better to actually read your news than get it from pundits. I refuse to be part of the partisan flock of Hannity, Limbaugh and their ilk.
If you want facts, you have to actually dig, read all the news sources.
I will believe the word of an American soldier before I will take the word of a politician or a pundit.
When you have actually been to war, when you have spent time in another country, you might get the idea.

Good grief. A one line thread is going crazy! What was so bad on post #100 that it got pulled?

You may be an idiot too if you don't think that Rumsfeld apology is a good thing in calming the anger against America. As I said, no one is demanding that Rumsfeld be striped naked and dragged on leash. It is simply a way to sooth the anger around the world against the most civilized armed force on earth. We all should through aside the partisan attitude and condemn such behaviors. Having said so, we still need to find the people who took the pictures, and charge them with treason or something - of course off the records, please!
To: philosofy123
Personally, I think our commander in chief did a great job handling the pics yesterday. As long as there is an America, the anger will be there. If the entire congress and all the people of America apologized, the anger will still be there. There is NOTHING anyone can do about the anger against America.
If anything, the idiots are the ones who posed the nasty boys, and are the ones who took the pics.

It was not an American Soldier that gave the broom stick story.
You didn't mean to imply it was.....did you?
I certainly am not basing my comments on the pundits you name. You didn't mean to imply that, either....did you?
I am going by the guy who claims he was a prisoner, David. And his lawyer--the self-identified "friend and mentor" to the lawyer picked up in Portland yesterday in connection to the Madrid bombings.
Now, why don't you address that?
To: ISonnet
Again, my difficulty with the apology is that it now has nothing to do with contrition or regretAnd how do you know what's in a man's heart? Are you the frickin' Shadow or something?

OK, is abusing, hazing, and shaming prisoners part of the military's job?In some cases, YES. This Iraq thing ain't no Sunday School picnic. The military has to do what it has to do. Period.
To: cyncooper
What was it that soared right over my head?

Why would it "have to" abuse, haze, and shame prisoners?
To: Know your rights
Geez. There are times, maybe not by those immature prison guards mind you, when the military HAS TO deal with prisoners in a none-too-gentle manner. The picture I saw of those men stacked like dead bodies was bad...abhorrent. I'm glad the President told the world that.
There are, however, things done to prisoners that HAVE TO BE DONE because that is the only way to save American and innocent lives. Maybe next time we have prisoners to interrogate we should offer lollipops?

tell Rush he needs to get a grip, too.You tell him.
I think Rush is right - and in fact I think Rush's reaction is too mild. This groveling by the Bush Administration is disgusting.
To: M. Thatcher
I'm pleased the Bush administration knows right from wrong. Recognizing wrong is not groveling, nor is it weak.
