Apparently, that link doesn't work anymore. Anyway, this is my first post to the new forum. There are for reviews of DU on Websearch, three of them negative, but notice the date on which the positive one was published.

AHHH! Nice bait. Let's see if any lefties will bite.

I'd also add something along the lines of, "Occasionally, Rush mentions them and reads some of their stuff. I believe he takes a certain amount of happiness in melting their servers. I know I do..."

Would you like to be on my new DUhmmy ping list? I intend to use it strictly for articles and threads about and from the DU.

Here's a typical example of their convoluted thought processes:

Has any freeper ever explained to you why Clinton's lies were so heinous..

Count me in. BTW, I was thinking that maybe we should have a daily "dumbest thing said on DU" thread.

I have read DU at times, wondering if there is ever a reason for me to return to being a Dem, as I am now an independent.

I have to say I think it is the worst advertisement the Dem Party could possibly have for itself. Rarely do I see any logic or reasoned thoughtful posts in any discussion; most of the threads are vanities about something unrelated to issues or just a knee-jerk reaction to a news item.

BTW, I do not think every person on FR is a genius, but if you read both forums, it is clear that FR has a lot more people who are able to actually maintain a conversation on the issues than DU.

It saddens me in a way, because I believe our nation is much stronger when we have a real dialogue on both sides of the aisle.

Hi SweetL. -
Could you go ahead and add me to the list. I go over there from time to time, but always have to wash my hands afterwards.

I couldn't agree more. The idea that this is the only thing the liberal side can offer is saddening when you get right down to it.

I know all too well about those sweet-hearted liberals on the 'net. Yes, I've seen stuff about Ashcroft, but pre-FR, I've seen other cruel nastiness just spontaneously spouted from some liberal - on special-interest forums!

Note I'm pretty new here; I've been on other "hobby" forums for years, tho, and sometimes the libs just can't keep their mouths shut on off-topic issues.

Which is another thing I've noted: it's extremely rare to see some conservative start a thread about anything politically motivated - not to mention just to be nasty about some1 of the opposite stripe. Nor to mention post something in the middle of a thread and get a word in politically about something which has nothing to do w/the original thread.

Anyway, I've read on a History Channel forum some1 tell us how he can't help but feel happy Rush Limbaugh is going deaf. Yes, he had to start his own thread about it.

On another forum (can't recall which), some1 started the thread w/a smart remark like "oh great, a gun nut w/Alzheimer's heading a rabid gun-crazy club" - of course, Charlton Heston.

That's what these sweet, gentle, loving people have to say.

On a nostalgia forum I frequent, there was an outspoken conservative who loved to start tons of threads in the off-topic area about politics. But I never saw him get nasty w/o being much provoked. And him and me and a few other con's not withstanding, NO ONE said anything mean and cruel about Paul Whitestone dying shortly before the election, tho there were plenty tributes.

That's not like what libs love to do to conservatives, no matter the circumstances.

I agree, BTW, it's Wellstone, not Whitestone. But also, there was a thread here on FR a few months back when some Democratic senator from Illinois died. Nearly all posts, except one, expressed sympathy for the family. The one who said something to the effect that he was glad he was dead. That person was rebuked by fellow FReepers, and his post pulled by the mods. By contrast, that thread I mentioned from DU about Ashcroft's pancreatitis was untouched by DU mods, even though a few did object to the offensive material.
