While the attention has been on the conflict between right and left, the right has become left.

If Bush makes even a single concession to illegals that have already broken our immigration laws...it is a de facto AMNESTY and I will donate to the campaign of any candidate that opposes him...even if it is a Democrat.

Your link doesn't work pal. It takes me to some liberal anti-drudge site.

Your link leads to the Drudge Retort. Accidental? Not real funny. It was an accident I'm sure.
But this story is presently on The Drudge Report....the originator of this thread just made an error when he filled in the URL.

Not very nice of El Presidente to slap conservatives in the face right before November.

Not very nice of El Presidente to slap conservatives in the face right before November. I am glad he is doing this before the primaries, though. Maybe it's enough time for a Republican challenger that will oppose Jorge Bush's love affair with illegals and his big business donors that employ them.

Lets get rid of the 10 hide and seek rule!

It's not immigration reform...it's immigration deformed.
Beyond recognition.

While the attention has been on the conflict between right and left, the right has become left. It's an attack on the labor market power of the lower and middle classes...aka "costs". It's a Republicrat synergy to continue the depression of wages of American citizens and residents, profits therefrom kicked-back via campaign contributions.
As Tancredo put it, the Republicans want cheaper labor, the Democrats want more voters. Over simplisitic, but pretty accurate.
The Repbulicrats will cover this disaster with think-tank apologias explaining how we're all gonna get rich from this...same m.o. as always.

This trial balloon needs to be shot down, fast. I won't vote for a President who would sign legislation to legalize the Illegals, and I won't vote for a party that would pass legislation giving him the opportunity.

Maybe Bush figures that since it was so close, and that maybe Al Gore did win, it would be good idea to govern like Gore would have.

The real change in immigration policy would be to actually enforce the existing law!
Here is an experiment to try.
1. Get the local office INS phone number.
2. Call it.
3. You will hear a list of options, "press # to apply for a green card", etc.
4. Count how many options are offered to allow an illegal to gain legal residency, allow some one who has overstayed a visa to to automatically extend it, etc.
5. See if you can find ANY options for reporting illegals, turning in an employer of illegals, etc.
After you have the result consider weather or not you believe the INS and congress are at all sincere about enforcing the law.
