If you think this thread would be a good idea, say so. You don't have to be a recovering addict to think it's a good idea, too.

I want to know if there is a need for a 12-step thread on Free Republic, Yes, there is. Red Sox fans and Libertarians - especially if the two are rolled into one - are quite obviously addicted to losing and to pain.

Naw, but we could use a good daily two-step thread.

Well I'll have nine years next May 18 and AA saved my life and marriage but you know how these things usually go on the Internet. I had a miracle in my life and am willing to share it. If this helps just one person to recover it's worth it.

Laz look at my tag line. Today is a big deal for me!

Good man, Laz.
I never got quite that far down that road, but I know many, many wonderful, talented people who have. ;-)

Of course we need a 12 step program .... Since this FR addiction is a series problem.

I think it's a great idea, Laz.

Great idea, Laz. Good luck to you and congrats on your "almost" year!!! I have a relative who has the same addiction...it's a rough one. One year will certainly be cause for rejoicing for you and your family.

Wow, I am inspired by your courage. :)
I think this thread is a great idea. I hope to have the guts to jump into it for the "substance."
Let me read the rest of the posts before I write more. :)
*pats Lazmataz on the back* great idea...
Hey, over ten years ago, well even more than that, yikes!, my sister (at the time she'd moved back home from a brief time in California) received a rather weird little envelope from a buddy in CA. I flushed it down the toilet.
To this day she thanks me. :)

Not a bad idea Laz, now that I realize you were not suggesting a 12-step program for FReepaholics!
I dare say THAT is an addiction I refuse to give up!

I think one particular person on Liberty Post who will remain nameless needs a FR 12-step obsession-cessation program :)

Hello Laz. It's a great idea. But I have serious reservations. As the forum would be open to other members (and browsers) of the site I would be concerned about anonymity. It is for that reason that I am responding on an alternative (less identifying) screen name to discuss the matter. BTW I don't even know if I am permitted to have two screen names. The earlier concerns on this thread about folks jumping in and bashing us are germane here.
Your willingness to pursue this is wonderful. But I don't know if it is really a good idea for those of us that are either recovering or practicing addicts and alcoholics.

Keep up your fight.
Many can't make it out of coke addiction
A thread might help others.

I don't see what it would hurt and it certainly might help so why not , if you're willing.

How about a 12 step recovery thread for those liberals who wake up and switch to republican?
To: Lazamataz
(Thank G-d and Narcotics Anonymous for that)Please be very careful with Narcanon. I have heard that their program is quite effective, but it is run by Scientology, so if they ever want to offer you a "personality test", please do not take it.
