Is there a need for a Free Republic daily 12-step thread?

I want to know if there is a need for a 12-step thread on Free Republic, every day (like Word for the Day)?
Many people, myself included, were emboldened by Rush Limbaugh's public confession of addiction. I myself admitted that I am a recovering cocaine addict with almost one year of sobriety (Thank G-d and Narcotics Anonymous for that). There are many others who I feel might benefit from such an ongoing, daily thread.
I'd be willing to host it daily, like RikaStrom hosts Word-For-The-Day. It would necessarily be located in General Interest (chat). Some days when I was rather busy, I might not be able to do more than start this thread, but other days I'd be involved in it closely.
Moderators, could you leave this up in News for a while? I want maximum exposure to the largest possible FR public.

Be nice. I wasn't trashing Laz or his idea. And tpaine knows me and should know I was poking fun with his comment. Lighten up.

How about a 12 step recovery thread for those liberals who wake up and switch to republican?

The word 'refer' is some sort of code to you? - Bizarro.

Nearest big town they live near is Kingston. Ihaven't been to TO in years.
Back to topic; I suppose a support thread would be good, and only those who aren't concerned about privacy would post, or at least limit what they say. If it goes as well as the Canteen, then it ought to be good.

Whatever.

"I got the exposure I needed"
And that's all you wanted, right? I wanted exposure in the news forum to get lots of opinions to this concept. Although I didn't answer your posts, they factor into my decision.
Even mean ol' MinuteGal's contribution counts. ;^)

as a gal who grew up in Chicago... I'm ... it's okay! Hey, if the cubbies can make the world series ...(World Serious?) all that matters is that we're all cyber-acquaintances.

OMG, that is very, very true. This is a tough crowd to introduce such a personal thread. For example, there was one very nice man who posted about his marital troubles; I answered (as others did) and never heard from him again. I wonder if people just laughed at him and he decided not to return. :( I've recieved a lot of mail from people who are very concerned that people who opened up would be blasted by the insensitive. At this time I am unwilling to subject them to this sort of abuse. I'm coming down on the 'no' side.
But ChemistCat offered a possibility: Perhaps I could moderate a DelphiForum 12-step forum and ban those who come to be jerks. People could also change their screen names for additional anonymity. And I could have a daily thread here with a link, and the highlights of yesterday's 12 step thread.
Might be a lot of work though. We'll see.

(Thank G-d and Narcotics Anonymous for that)Please be very careful with Narcanon. I have heard that their program is quite effective, but it is run by Scientology, so if they ever want to offer you a "personality test", please do not take it.

The purpose of the tradition is today's good public example may be tomorrow's falling down drunk. You are exactly right. And while it may be frowned upon to take new screennames to hide one's identity, it would certainly be nothing new.

Oh boy, this means so much...I'm sorry; I'm trying.

Really? I've never heard of that. I'll ask my _____, who goes to those meetings. (I wouldn't put it past them...)
To: jmc813
I have heard that their program is quite effective, but it is run by ScientologyNarconon is distinct and different as an organization to Narcotics Anonymous. I've never seen anything about Scientology or personality tests, and I've gone to NA for almost a year.
This might clear things up.
