FR is a community where folks do try to help each other when they can. My suggestion is that your 12 step thread be moved off the general thread to a special topic thread. After folks getting a dose of religion from the religion thread, they can go to your thread or visa versa, or to one or the other. I suspect a considerable minority are addicts or near addicts, as to some substance, which at least to some degree negatively impacts their life, or will. If your idea helps even a few, it is a worthy endeavor.

I admire your courage in going public. The amazing thing is that folks know most of us have vices or negative aspects of our lives, and understand that, and have at least sympathy if not empathy for those that slip over into the unmanageble side. Don't let the naysayers deflect you. The human experience tends to be messy.

Dr. Balasa Prasad, a genius with a radical approach to nicotine addiction, alcoholism, and drug addiction. I know first hand that he works. It sounds like pie in the sky but his methods are effective and almost instantaneous
He does not claim to be 100% effective but he is pretty darn close.

We forget that we are missionaries for at least one cause. If we're so intent on being funny and getting the best "dig" in on somebody, we drive people off from the things we believe in, before they even get a chance to understand what it is we believe.

Bet that 16 year old votes Dem forever.

You seem to have a problem, is it possible that you might need a program such as this?

Army, '65 - 68, Tropic Lighting.

Hello Laz. It's a great idea. But I have serious reservations. As the forum would be open to other members (and browsers) of the site I would be concerned about anonymity. It is for that reason that I am responding on an alternative (less identifying) screen name to discuss the matter. BTW I don't even know if I am permitted to have two screen names. The earlier concerns on this thread about folks jumping in and bashing us are germane here.

Your willingness to pursue this is wonderful. But I don't know if it is really a good idea for those of us that are either recovering or practicing addicts and alcoholics.

I want to know if there is a need for a 12-step thread on Free Republic,

Yes, there is. Red Sox fans and Libertarians - especially if the two are rolled into one - are quite obviously addicted to losing and to pain.

Laz, -- there is obviously a huge need for a 12 step hate reduction program at FR.. Hundreds of these poor souls roam the forums, spewing their vile nastieness everwhere..

Good luck on your new venture, and rest assured that I will do my best to refer prospects into your care.

vile nastieness

lol.....I'm a small "l"......just giving you large "L's" a hard time ;)

But I thought you had a thicker skin; it would seem like a prerequisite, in your position.

I have been thinking lately what is really the best diet is. Atkins, South Beach, vege. Not just to lose weight only. But a lifetime of energy and good health.

Will this help those of us hopelessly addicted to FR?

Yes. Just sign on to FR and we will help you sign off again.

BTTT for that... :) Especially in such a huge forum. There's a pressure.. *wipes perspiration off of brow* ;)

Seriously though, FReepers won't always be truthful because they know that there are so many super-funny, super-smart people here.

This is the greatest Internet forum I know. I keep coming back... but let's all remember... the person at the other end of the modem line is a person too.

*violins play* Am I sounding too much like a Dumbocrat? ;)

Very true!! And here we laugh at DU.... Though Freepers in general may be smarter, they may not be more caring than DU'ers.

Like I've said before, this place is huge... but there is a human being at the other end of the modem. And that human being wants, in general, the same things you do, politically. And otherwise.

jeesh... :(

Thanks for the extra time in News. I got the exposure I needed to make a decision. But can this thread go to Chat? Backroom is really where the slugfests are and this doesn't appear to be one. :o)
