Yes, there was mockery, sanctimony, pedantry, bile and divisiveness before the maleficent ALS appeared.
However, he did his mightiest to fan every flame into a conflagration and to whip up fanaticism. No poster, on either side of the debate, was as malicious as the blackguard ALS.
I, for one, was not unhappy to see him gone, one fine day.
