VANITY: The "Truth" about JimRob and Free Republic according to BADJOE

Dear Free Republic Friends,

My old friend and brother-in-arms BADJOE has promised to warm the cockles of our hearts by publishing an expose (the truth about JimRob and Free Republic according to Joe) on the 18th of this month, which represents the one year anniversary of the date he last posted to FreeRepublic.com and started up with LibertyPost.org.

So, as I believe that only the truth can set you free, and based upon the stratergery of pre-emptive strike, I have a confession to make (before BADJOE makes it public):

I have poisoned the well.

By my sly innuendos behind the scenes.

By my intellectual ineptitude.

By not trusting those that brung me to the dance to bring me home.

By my biting every hand that fed me.

By my arrogance that causes me to think I did it all by myself.

By my stubborness not because of principle, but because of my lack of ability to see what is transpiring.

Evidenced by:

One would think that with half again as many Freepers. with a recovering economy, It would take a great deal less time to raise the necessary funds.

By this time in the June 2002 effort with a goal of $70,000 we had raised $73,000. Not because of who did the fundraising, but because the sense of purpose, of family, of comaraderie, was still present.

BADJOE rang the warning bell, but none heard.

Conclusion:

It is a sad day.

For what was once a great hope, a means of bringing together those who are willing to pay dearly in blood, sweat, and money to save this country, we all love, has been reduced to an asterisk.

So sayeth BADJOE as he promises to publish all this and much more on the 18th. He's been feverishly working on this "project" for one full year. In addition to the "truth about JimRob" BADJOE intends to further betray our trust placed in him by revealing the names of our moderators. And who knows what else?

I can hardly wait.

What bothers me is that Badjoe had my credit card number in several fundraisers.

That's the beauty of using debit cards to donate, as I do with my monthly donation. If you feel your card number has been "compromised" - just call your bank and say you lost it. They will issue you a new debit card immediately with a new number and cancel the old one. Then you start clean again.

I actually like getting a new debit card every now and then. It's like getting a new e-mail address. Everything's fresh and clean again - at least for a little while. All those people you got sick of hearing from can't reach you anymore unless YOU tell them your new address.

Well a debit card is like that. When I "lost" my debit card during the summer, everybody who had my debit card on file couldn't charge me anymore for things until I gave them my new number. I got to pick and choose who I wanted to keep giving to. Free Republic made the cut. Some bozo "book-of-the-month" club didn't and neither did some domain hosting service my son signed up with. I clean up a lot of bills that way.

Anyway, I digress. I would hope that Badjoe would never do something as dishonest (and criminal) as misuse the card numbers he was entrusted with. (Actually I don't think he ever saw them.) During the time I knew Badjoe, I never knew him to by anything but a good guy. But if it is true that he intends to reveal the real names of moderators and other underhanded crap like that, I will lose all my respect for him. Don't do it Badjoe!

BadJoe has great integrity; greater than most you will ever meet. Your inflamatory innuendo's insult him, and us who trust him, and don't help this fundrasing effort at all. If you feel insecure, don't donate.

The credit card transactions are now being processed by a professional peocessing firm: Authorize.net. My son, John Robinson, handles the programming and database issues on our secure server. No FReepers or anyone else has access to the transactions or the information.

Does anyone bother to read LP? I tried to check it last year just to see what might be posted there, that wasn't posted to FR. What I found was fowl mouthed screeds not very different from what I found on DU and other liberal forums in the rare times that I have exposed my sanity to their insanity.

That said I thought that BadJoe had some valid points last year when he was on a rant. Specifically the inconsistancy and hair-trigger/trigger happiness of some moderators. I do recognize that it is a thankless job that keeps FR readable, but it also requires a maturity that not everyone is blessed with. We can only hope that you, JimRob has chosen wisely when deligating FR authority. Time will tell.

If the concern is identity theft, give via PayPal or personal check. Or Money Order or cash, mailed. I can think of lots of reasons to hang fire on contribution, but concern relating to ID theft is easy to address.
