Is this story a spoof? There's odd stuff in it, e.g., the following:
"Chuck," Berry said, "I hope what I see out there is a cloud."
"This is way out in the middle of Bumfuck, Egypt."
Chuck Berry? Bumfuck? This has got to be a joke.

"Bumfuck, Egypt" is an expression for a place way out in the boonies. I've heard it used before.
