The book of Romans through chapter 8 explains this in some detail, if you'd care to pursue it.

I think that's an excellent suggestion. If I could only have one book of the Bible I'd choose Romans. If I could only have one chapter of the Bible I'd choose Romans chapter 8. If I could only have one verse in the Bible I'd choose Romans 8:1.

Because of its content I used to read the first 8 chapters of Romans as often as possible, sometimes daily. Since Romans chapter 8 summarizes much of what comes before it, for those limited on time reading Romans chapter 8 is a great place to start, imo.

I love the book of Romans, too! But if I were allowed only one book of the Bible, I'd choose the Gospel of John. If only one chapter, John 17. If only one verse, John 17:23

I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
