LIBERAL SAN FRAN HOSTS "MASTURBATE-A-THON" (wow!)
Reuters Oddly Enough via Yahoo News ^ | May 5, 2003 | Reuters

Also, if you get a chance, go to FoxNews.com and scroll down to the lower part of the homepage. There's a graphic with a badge that says "PC Patrol." There's an article there about females at an all-girls college removing feminine pronouns from their Constitution b/c it will alienate transgender shemales... -sdk

Great, you mention Liberty Ave., and I've involuntarily remembered the days when I had to be "dahntahn" at 6 a.m. Invariably, I'd see male trannie prostitutes hanging around the Edison (now called Club Elite, I believe), finishing their work day, I guess.
~~shudder~~

If you say so...
I sometimes went to the Army/Navy surplus store looking for cheap camping gear, but other than that, I pretty much avoided that part of dahntahn. Can't really recall the names of the other places. (Except for maybe an orange/yellow brick parking garage. I think that was on Liberty.)

I seem to recall a Honus Wagner sports store near that Army-Navy store - does that sound right? It's been a long time since I trod that particular section of Liberty Ave.

He was an interesting guy. My late father (who worked in Pgh. TV) once rode in a plane Paul Long piloted, and said it was one of the most harrowing experiences of his life.

My brother's bachelor party was at Club Ed.

The "stripper" I lined up for his lap dance was a transvestite -- a good one.

Two points:

Vaguely... but it's not someplace I ever went shopping.
You could pick up a pair of sneakers or a ballcap just about anywhere.
And Santa gave me my baseball glove and bat...
Other than that, you could always find a ball that was lost in the weeds next to the ballfield, or there were other kids who had a football or basketball to play with. Really didn't need much from the sports store.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a good transvestite in Pittsburgh?

LOL! I'm afraid that's a question that sent me off into the Twilight Zone, martin.
That's one of 'em thoughts that I never dreamt would ever cross my mind.
Heck, I'm still befuddled by the Andy Warhole museum.
