Cubans are fleeing an oppressive dictatorship. That is far different than the circumstances in Asia or Mexico, and a differnet policy is warranted.

What about dictatorships such as China? North Korea? Opressive regimes such as Saudi Arabia, until recently Afghanistan? Why is it any different for these nations? They all must go through the normal INS processing.

If someone's fleeing China's repressive policies, particularly their barbaric population control measures, yeah, I think we ought to cut some of those folks some slack.

I happen to think that if it can be reasonably presumed that someone will be facing danger to life or liberty through their return due to actions that would NOT be a crime in this country (such as having a baby without the government's permission, speaking out against their government, or worshipping God in a manner not approved by the government).

I supplied plenty of links but for those that wish not to actually READ the links I can see where this would become a problem. Just agree that we disagree and move on....I NEVER ONCE called him a liar, I may have said he lied in his points, but throughout his entire threads I can point MANY instances in which he threw liar at many people. I NEVER used any language to label ANYONE with ANY racial slurs or epitaths, you point out where I have done this. So please save me the labeling Poohbah.

First point: when you say that someone is lying, you're calling him a liar.
