First, I'm as mad as anyone else about the AW ban. However, STAYING HOME is the WORST DECISION possible.
Whatever happens, PLEASE go to the polls and vote. If you must, leave the president spot blank or vote for someone besides W, but please do not punish the rest of the candidates there who ARE pro-2a, and had nothing to do with this.
The Congress, Senate, State Rep, State Senate, and County and local seats are just as important as the other seats and is the basis of the farm club. If we do not have a solid farm club, we will NOT have a pool of talent to choose from.
Taking a case to the SC is not as easy as you seem to think. Except in very unusual circumstances (like the 200 election) the SC moves at a pace that makes a snail look positively speedy. They are frequently outpaced by growing grass.
First a case has to wend its way through all of the lower courts most of which are extremely reluctant to void a law on constitutional grounds, then the SC has to agree to take the case.
Now think long and hard about this next one: before taking a case to the SC you have to be certain it is the right case. Just like asking the General for a decision, you will get a decision from the SC. If the case you choose to take there is weak, you may get the wrong decision, and the SC will not take another case on the same or even a very similar issue for the better part of a century.
Ashcroft has had the opportunity to ask the SC to take a couple of 2A cases and has decided that he would rather wait for a really good one than go in with a weak one. I think one of the cases may get there without him & in that instance he will support the individual right interpretation.
He did a lot of worse things also. As did George I--the ADA, tax increases, no drilling in ANWR, and not keeping us safe from terrorists. And, if you want to go off on that last, let's go start another thread and go to it. At least we got a Republican House for the first time in 40 years, until Newt blew it (along with help from the media and just being outsmarted). No, I hate Clinton as much as you do. But he did much more for Republicans than Bush I or other RINOs, which this Bush just may be, ever did or will. He became something to focus on.
There should be some sort of test, before people can join FR; far too many of you don't understand politics at all and most assuredly, don't have a glimmer of an idea about consequences of your actions.
Yes, it is because of Clinton, that we got the majaority in both Houses. Fat lot of good THAT did, when we had 8 years of Clinton. Get a damned grip...you are being masochistic, NOT valorous.

And not everyone is a hopeless malcontent. Fine if you want a demo president all over "principle" go for it. Kiss any tax cuts goodbye, look for stronger gun control measures, and judges who think that Roe v. Wade is just hunky dory.
Like I said before, some of you go into a bakery and demand a fresh baked loaf with a card with smooches all over it and if you don't get exactly what you want, you go to the next bakery and happily buy the moldy, rancid loaf the democrats offer.

Posting politically naive and harmful , not to mention childish posts, is NOT a prerequiset of courtesy. Single item voters cut of their noses to spite their faces and do no one, other than the enemy, much good. You'd rather have nothing, than 1/2 ( or more ) of what you want. That makes NO sense.
No. Michigan changed their law while I lived there and discontinued registration by party affiliation. So when I dumped the GOP in Oct '99 (Today, I tried to switch my Party affiliation) I could still vote in the GOP primary. That's when I voted for Keyes.
Unfortunately, when I moved to Nevada, it was back to officially registering in one of the two major parties to be eligible to vote in the primaries again. (Nevada Party Registration) So I held my nose and registered GOP again, strictly to maximize my alternatives in the voting booth. If I had registered Reform, all that would have happened is that I would have restricted my options.
Actually if perot had not run, Bush would have won. The funny thing about the Perot run is that many pro-life people voted for him, even though his wife was on the board of directors of Planned Parenthood. But what the hey there was a vote for principle and a Clinton presidency to be had.
