These jobs require no higher skills than research laboratory technicians. The market priced these (IT) jobs way out of proportion to the necessaary skills and H1B visas were aauthorized to take up some of the shortages. Market forces are now leveling things out. I agree that the HIB and L1 programs should be pared WAY back, but IT folks have to realize that what they do is just not worth what they came to think it was in the boom days!

I agree that IT salaries are probably in the correct range now. That's not the issue.

These jobs require no higher skills than research laboratory technicians. OK, so what is the reasonable pay for a "research laboratory technicians" with few years of college? Should they be able to afford car, get a loan for house or to support family?
