I think the way women served in WWII was quite adequate and productive.
The military from bottom to top does not exist to provide women a "proving ground"
Lest you think I believe women are incapable of warrior mentality as well as warrior combat fighting, let me be the first to suggest that Maggie Thatcher would suit me fine as a war leader....Jeane Kirkpatrick as a wartime SOS would have been great too....there would have been no willy nilly groveling for the UN or French that's for sure.
My apologies to Happy Gal;>) on the Maggie accolades...but that's another argument.

The military from bottom to top does not exist to provide women a "proving ground" I agree and I've never argued for women in the military from that standpoint. Nor is it a "proving ground" for men. If women are in the military it should be because our military can use their talents. Ditto for men.
