"Yet activists are still promoting lower training standards and co-ed basic training policies that disregard the safety of the American people for the false leftist idea that women and men are exactly the same." I find it disturbing that this approach is still continuing. Of course, standards shouldn't be lowered. That is not even logical. We see the results with the police and fire fighters where standards are lowered for MEN who are overweight or cannot pass physical tests.
However, as a woman, I think women should be able to play a part in the military IF they can meet the same standards men can meet without lowering the standards.
Where that line is, though, I just don't know. Any ideas?

The Danes experimented by putting women in a mechanized infantry and artillery unit to see if they can handle the physical demands. The study concluded only 10 percent can meet the male physical standards. Reason has something to do with the ability to develop upper body muscles needed for brute strength and burden. This correlates with the data from female body building coaches. They find that only 10 to 15 percent of the female population have muscles that can be developed thru weightlifting. The rest can not. I do not mind females in combat units as long as they can meet the stringent physical standards. Atleast the male members will respect them because they can meet the same standards they are held to. Females must remember that if they become POW, some cultures will kill them, while others may rape and sexually abuse them. It also means that at best, combat units will have only 10 to 15 percent female. This will not happen because the PC crowd want up to 50 percent. I believe in equal opportunity but not military suicide.

I get flamed on these threads every time I speak out. Oh well, if you can't stand the heat and all that. I don't think the standards should be lowered and I agree that most women could not meet the standards set but just like most Chinese cannot play basketball, the few like Yao should be allowed. Just because most are not able is no reason to keep those who are out. And to be really controversial, I don't think it is fair to the men to make them bare the burden alone. No one stops to think about what we ask of the men.

That line will be achieved when men can become pregnant and avoid combat or further combat because of their pregnancy.

Signed, a grateful woman who isn't ashamed of admitting that a man is stronger and shouldn't be put in harms way because I want to fight fires or join the military.
