To: Right Wing Professor
I will concede this to you, if you can espouse your views, then this professor, in an upper level lecture, should have freedom to discuss her doubts. That is my whole problem with this. It was an upper level situation. I went to many "lectures" when I was in college. Some of the presenters did some off the wall stuff, but I would never imagine asking for them to lose their positions. On top of that, nowhere does it say this professor insisted that the students espouse her views, it was a discussion.

She didn't lose her professorship. She lost her position as head of department, a purely administrative title which may or may not have affected her salary, and certainly didn't affect her tenure. If my department chair put himself in the position of teaching obviously fallacious nonsense in a field in an area in which I am qualified and he is not, I would question his fitness to lead the Department.
