Yesterday was one of the most gut-wrentching, glorious days I think I will ever experience this side of Heaven. I am completely spent and exhausted. I did get some fairly good sound and some fairly very good recordings (as far as recording on the fly with no re-mixing goes) I used up a ton of Kleenex. I have never seen anything in person like that in my entire life. There were hundreds and hundreds of people all giving from their whole heart in service and tribute at the same time. I am still stunned by the whole thing. If you heard it, the music alone would knock you off your feet. (Man, after that funeral, I'll be glad if they can find 6 guys to carry out my casket:^)\

Anyway, the answer to the the pic is, suprise, suprise; DESIGN.

You would never get outboard motors with bushings, drive shafts, rotors, universal joints and propellers simply by shaking up the parts in a box, even assuming that you had all the parts in the first place. Anytime I see a bushing, I know there's an engineer behind it somewhere:^)

Cordially,

My condolences. But wait'll you hear "Amazing Grace" from a half dozen bagpipes in a Scottish funeral. You just gotta be there to appreciate it.

Sounds like the guest of honor was a very lucky man to have such friends. Personally, I don't worry too much about finding people to carry me out - I told my wife that I wish to be stuffed and mounted by a taxidermist upon my departure. She has provisionally agreed, provided that I can be put in a "natural pose", which I believe she described as "sitting on the couch and holding the remote" ;)

Regarding the last picture, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that labels like "bushing" and such are functional descriptions inserted by artists and scientists, and may or may not bear any relation to the things we think of as "bushings". So I won't bring it up.

For the next image, consider the following at your convenience:

In this case, a really, really, small engineer.
