“I’m a bad American? This pretty much sums it up for me. I like big trucks, big boats, big houses, and naturally pretty women.

“I believe that the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid level governmental functionary with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts squirting out babies.

I think that playing with toy guns does not make you a killer. I believe that ignoring your kids and giving them Prozac might.

I don’t think being a minority makes you noble or victimised. I have the right to not be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or make me mad.

This is MY life to live- and not necessarily to other’s expectations.

I don’t celebrate Kwanzaa. But if you want to that’s fine; I just don’t think everyone else should have to.

I believe that if you are selling me a Dairy Queen shake, a pack of cigarettes, or a hotel room, you should do it in English. As a matter of fact, if you are an American citizen, you should speak English. My uncles and forefathers shouldn’t have had to die in vain so that you can leave the countries you were born in to come disrespect ours and make us bend to your will. Get over it.

I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry butt if you are running from them after they tell you to stop. If you don’t understand the word “freeze” or “stop”, see the previous.

I don’t use the excuse “it’s for the children” as a shield for unpopular opinions or actions.

I know how to count votes and I feel much safer letting a machine with no political affiliation do a recount when needed.

I don’t think that just because you were not born in this country you qualify for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans etc. so that you can open a hotel, 7-Eleven, trinket shop, or any other thing while the indigenous people can’t get past a high school education because they can’t afford it.

I didn’t take the initiative for inventing the Internet.

I thought the Taco Bell dog was funny.

I want them to bring back safe and sane fireworks.

I believe that no one ever died because of something Ozzy Osbourne. Ice-T, or Marilyn Manson sang; but that doesn’t mean that I want to listen to that crap from someone else’s car when I am stopped at a red light. But I respect your right to listen to it.

I think that being a student doesn’t give you any more enlightenment than working at Blockbuster or Jack in the Box.

Our soldiers did not go to some foreign country and risk their lives in vain to defend the Constitution so that decades later you can tell me that it is a living document ever changing and therefore open to interpretation. The guys who wrote it were light years ahead of anyone today, and they meant what they said. Now leave the document alone, or there is gonna be trouble.

I don’t hate the rich. I help the poor.

I have never owned, or was a slave, and a large percentage of our forefathers weren’t wealthy enough to own one either. Please stop blaming me because some prior white people were idiots. And remember, tons of white, Indian, Chinese, and other races have been enslaved too. It was wrong for every one of them.

I believe that a self-righteous liberal Democrat with a cause is more dangerous than a Hell’s Angel with an attitude.

I wan to know exactly which church it is where the “Reverend” Jessie Jackson preaches and what exactly his job function is.

I own a gun. You can own a gun, and any red blooded American should be allowed to own a gun. But if you use it in a crime, you will do the time- or worse.

I think that Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it makes you mad, then invent the next Operating System that is better and put YOUR name on the building.

Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you.

I don’t believe in hate crime legislation. Even suggesting it makes me mad. You’re telling me that someone who is a minority, gay, disabled, another nationality, or otherwise different from the mainstream of this country has more value as a human being than I do as a white male. If someone kills anyone, I’d say that it is a hate crime. We don’t need more laws! We need to enforce the ones we already have.

I think turkey bacon, turkey beef, turkey fake anything sucks.

I believe that it doesn’t take a village to raise a child. It takes a parent with the guts to stand up to the kid and spank his butt and say “NO!” when it is necessary to do so.

I’ll admit that the only movie that made me cry was Ol’ Yeller.

I didn’t realise that Dr Seuss was a genius until I had a kid.

I will not be frowned upon or looked down upon or made to be kept silent because I have these beliefs and opinions. I thought this country allowed me that right.

I will not conform or compromise just to keep from hurting somebody’s feelings. I’m neither angry nor disenfranchised, no matter how desperately the mainstream media would like to believe otherwise.

Yes, I guess by some people’s definition I may be a bad American.

But that’s tough.

Ted Nugent

I am hoping that you are willing to express your opinions to the above text. I've checked and it is public domain so there are no copyright restrictions here.

I am a college student (a 40 year old college student at that!) trying to develop a speech for a class that I am calling "America- Attitudes, Opinions, and... Rubbish. As a conservative woman, I see this assignment as an opportunity to serve multiple purposes- first, to open young, liberalist, and not entirely developed minds to a viewpoint that they may not yet have considered. Second to begin a discussion that may have the result of opening these minds. And third to ace the class.

I recognise that I will likely receive replies that I will not be able to use- I have seen some serious flame wars here! But for any who wish to post with thoughtful commentary, let me thank you in advance for allowing me to use your thoughts. If you prefer, email your comments privately.

I sincerely hope I am not breaking any rules here by asking for your help on this. If I am, the breach was completely unintentional and I apologise.

Thank you all!

I hope the attribution is correct. This has been around quite a while, mostly and wrongly attributed to George Carlin or some such person. Thanks for the post and welcome to the fray.

This has been around awhile. It was titled "TOUGH", and I emailed it to friends. I agree with him!

Thing is, I heard Nugent on Savage the other day and he really sounded just like this. Expressed exactly the same sentiments in nearly the same vehement manner.

George Carlin on the other hand is a liberal hack. His testicles would shrink back up into his belly if he had to even hold a gun, much less fire one.

Nice job.

An oldie, but truer words were never spoken.

If only we could get these ideas into the heads of the DC elite.

This kind of thing is vaguely infuriating to me. Not the substance of the essay itself, which is wonderful. I'm bewildered by whatever mental process compels someone to read something like this, make up an author's name out of thin air, and then disseminate false information.

I mean, what incites someone to do that? Who was the first person to get this in an e-mail and then, before forwarding it on to friends, decide to add the words "by George Carlin"? Who was the first person to get the version that said "by George Carlin" and change it to "by Ted Nugent"? And more importantly... why?

I guess I just don't understand the disregard for accuracy and precision. What was to be gained?
