Actually the Republic began dying circa 1867. In 1932 the dying process accelerated. In the 1960's the death rattle started.

I think your off by a few years. 1861 is more like it. One does not have to be a neo-confederate or any other such thing to recognize the profound change that occurred when the south wasn't "allowed" to leave freely and the implementation of Republican policies during the war and not just afterwards as you mention (and I'm not referring to anything regarding slavery in any way, that's not part of this discussion).
