You hit the nail on the head with that one. My objection to this is somehow Fox sees the US as being responsible for those he wants to get rid of; I don't see it that way, and much of the country is beginning to view this as a growing problem, too.

Here in the Midwest we do not have the same problems as those in the border states, but I cannot understand how these affected residents can continue to fund everything from cradle to grave, if the immigrants continue to come in at the same level. Many elderly have to do without many of the services handed out to the illegals, and this is wrong; our own citizens, particularly the ones who've paid taxes for their adult working lives should be given what they need first.

If Pres Bush is trying to gain voters from the Hispanic community, I think he should be more concerned about losing the loyal Republican voters over this immigration mess.

Yes, we do have a few of these problems here in the midwest.

I don't have the answers. Another point that I probably shouldn't even bring up is that it threatens to turn this country into a catholic majority, religious-wise.

Now in most respects that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, and maybe it serves the protestants right for using birth control.

I don't know but it is bothering me. We worked hard to make a good life for our children and many of us did limit the size of our families and now because others didn't they are robbing us blind. Maybe it is divine justice.

The bottom line for me is that having more children than you can afford to feed is irresponsible, if not sinful, regardless of what the powerful churchmen say. Ideally, birth control shouldn't be used but we are not living in an ideal world.

They are good people and most of them work very hard, but they are really not into education and some of the cultural things many of us have developed and held so dear, like love of art, music, going to museums, always learning, etc.

I'm sorry if that sounds prejudicial. I wish I would see evidence to the contrary and get over it as I don't want to resent them. I know some. Those that married anglos have mixed children who are doing very well educationally. As to the rest, I don't know if they put much value in higher education or anything else other than work and fun.

In fairness to them, when they do take over neighborhoods formerly occupied by middle-class whites, they seem to take good care of the property and are good citizens.

The rest of them have a macho ethic and the men are only interested in sex and macho stuff. There I said it. That's why I am prejudiced against them.

My daughter in her stupid teens had two children by a second-generation Mexican. He already had another out-of-wedlock child. He wasn't interested in much of anything that I could ever tell. He abandoned the children and one of them is lost to us through adoption. The one my daughter raised has just gotten in a scrape with the law over having sex with an 11-year-old (he's 15) and it just tears me apart. He has no drive or ambition and isn't very bright in school but he is a sweet kid. Like I said, it just tears me apart because he is my flesh and blood.

Sorry I rambled on so but I think it is one of the reasons I am upset about the whole mess.
