Counties have no power to thwart State or Federal authorities even if they are doing something stupid. BIG HORN, WYOMING -- 10/01/97 -- Wyoming sheriff tells feds to stay out
According to Sheriff Mattis, the case shows that he is legally responsible for all law enforcement activities which go on in his county. Mattis has put all federal agencies on notice that they are not to perform any law enforcement activity in his county unless he personally approves the operation in advance.

This guy can say whatever he wants but it doesn't make it so. If the State police want to do something there it can. If the feds want to do something there they can.
Do you think this blowhard could stop an investigation of something involving national security or even a bank robbery or kidnapping? Not only can he not but could actually find his ass in jail should he impede such activities.
Is he even still sheriff? My experience of most sheriffs is they are corrupt and incompetent just another politician. MOst make Sheriff Lobo look good.
