How much would you care to bet that the word "sheriff" isn't in state constitutions. There is no federal sheriffs, only marshalls who have comparable powers.
Be careful about how you bet. It can be expensive.

No I would not bet on State constitutions not having the word "sheriff" they may well have. We weren't talking about State constitutions, however. Illinois constitution references sheriffs as one of the office which cannot be eliminated but does not define their powers, those are established by the county boards.
You don't believe a county board's authority can override the State's or the Nation's do you? That would be the case if Sheriff's had the power our friend believes them to have.
This belief indicates a complete misunderstanding of the constitution.
