Thanks gb..that was an excellent post..I had never considered it..BUT of course the church is the birth child and Israel the adopted..
To: RnMomof7; gdebrae
Actually, I agree. Israel is adopted, the Church is born. (I ammend my family illustration to reverse the roles)Still sounds like they are different, as are my kids.

It's amazing to see you actually admitting you haven't been honest. I'm impressed!

Bump for your #2497.
I would add that the premills are not merely inserting the literal thousand years into various verses (which is a crime of eisegesis), but doing this even when they clearly don't fit (which is a crime of contradiction).
The premills' interpretation of 2 Peter 3 is a great example of this. Peter's entire argument concerning the long delay of the Lord's return is based on the idea that as soon as the Lord returns, He is going to judge the world and burn it up and start over with the NHNE. To read some kind of additional thousand years into the passage is to defy the text, not interpret it.
I never saw this when I left premillennialism two decades ago. (I just saw it a couple of years ago.) But I think it's pretty important.
Notice that my amillennial argument from 2 Peter 3 agrees exactly with Luke 19:12-25.

Israel/Church adopted/born adulterous wife yet to be reconcilled/spotless bride awaiting her groom That does not address woodys question if God has two seperate wives Steve..I say Jews and Gentiles MUST come to Christ the same way..by faith ..not animal sacrifices, not the law ..and IF they come by faith they are part of the church..they are ingrafted into the family just as your adopted son was..ONE Bride not two...the church.. (BTW isnt Israel referred to as HE in hosea?)

Both Israel and the Church come by faith in the Messiah. All of the sacrifices pointed to Him. The entire Tabernacle pointed to Him.
Where in Hosea is Israel a he? The analogy is that Hosea's wife pictures Israel.

Hsa 14:6 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.
Hsa 14:7 They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive [as] the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof [shall be] as the wine of Lebanon.
Hsa 14:8 Ephraim [shall say], What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard [him], and observed him: I [am] like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.
Hsa 14:9 Who [is] wise, and he shall understand these [things]? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD [are] right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

I only asked about the route because of the references to sacrifices for sin in the new temple.

Dishonesty on the Religion thread? Tell me it's not true!
To: RnMomof7
Gotta run for now. Our daughter (natural born -- the Church) is driving home to join us. Her brother (adopted - Israel) is excited she's coming home.
They are old enough now that we have passed through the rivalry stage (Church Age) and have become close (maybe I better drop the analogy at this point). :<)
Have a great Christmas, we will head out to my brother's place in North Georgia for the holidays next Monday, Lord willing.
To: RnMomof7
I see the MK sacrifices as a picture too. As the elements of the Lord's Supper look back to the cross, their sacrifices will do the same.
To: drstevej
you have read the thread...no sense rehashing..but it says clearly sacrifices for sin and to be pleasing to God..not like communion , a rememberance..

I never took a shot. I'll have one more chance in January. Now, if I had a bow, I'd definitely do some bow hunting. Every now and then, I do take my muzzleloader and go sit in one of my dad's bow blinds. That's where I'm talking about going in Jan. But, when you are looking for some meat, it is better to sit on one of the 2 high points of the lease. Unfortunately, my brother has been "fixing" the one for about a month now.

"Dishonesty on the Religion thread? Tell me it's not true!" Wish I could! But zxins at least admitted it, nevertheless (even if he did laugh about it). We'll just have to hope it doesn't continue.
Some of the history:

"I see the MK sacrifices as a picture too. As the elements of the Lord's Supper look back to the cross, their sacrifices will do the same. " Matthew 26
29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
Clearly, then, the "Lord's Supper" will end at his return! If the memorial of the "Lord's Supper" will end when Christ is present among us, why then the need for any other memorial service at that time??
(Incidently, why are we, as the church, partaking of a practice which was instituted to the Jews before the crucifixion?)

Only the Calvinistic notion of total inability (not depravity) makes Regeneration necessary before faith, since a spiritual 'dead' man cannot believe anything about God until he is first born again. So what do you do with Ephesians 2:1ff? The whole "quickening" thing? The fact of the matter is that prior to conversion, we were spiritually dead. Total inability is completely scriptural.
To: RnMomof7
Actually, I think
we are the ones ingrafted, Israel the natural branches.
(Israel is referred to as lots of things in Hosea. She is typified by an unfaithful wife, children of the unfaithful wife -- a son, Jezreel; a daughter, "No compassion" ; and another son, "Not my people" --, a vine in chp 10, and a rebellious son in chp 11.)
Hosea's one of the most interesting books of the OT.
