Just the same well meaning mistake occured in Genesis, when Adam embellished the warning about the tree of life. By telling Eve not to touch it, he gave the serpent the opening to show that touching it had no effect, so Eve went all the way and ate. Right on point!

Or kids try pot and think, "well, I tried pot and I don't see the horrors that they speak of so I assume I won't see the horrors the say lurk behind crack and heroin." It amounts to, "that wasn't so bad. It was actually pretty fun. What next?"
