The size of the testes and sperm production in males captured between July and the end of October, indicate that this is the main breeding period.
There may be some overlap between the mating and lactation season however, as females have been caught that were producing milk in late September.
It is assumed that gestation lasts about a month and incubation roughly ten days.
Lactation is known to take 3 1/2 months, this means young that emerge from the burrow in February would have resulted from a mating that occurred in September.
