Really? I've always used the following link that appears on the main page.

http://www.freeRepublic.com/focus/news/browse?ao=0

I thought it had all of the latest posts for all of the forums.

Nope. Notice the "news" in that link? That takes you to the News/Activism forum.

At the top of the page you get from that link, if you look over to the top right, you should see a section called "My Forums". That has a link to the News/Activism forum, the Smokey Back Room forum, and a few others. You can use those links to move back and forth between forums.
