I was under the impression that the new rules on abuse reports
say that they are anonomous to the mods. - Not so?

Reports come in anonymously. If we ask Jim who submitted them, however, he will tell us. This is useful when the item being considered is a flame war. Seeing who has been goading and then hitting abuse is useful.

In addition, every poster has a reliability rating that we do see. If a person makes a ridiculous complaint, we can knock down their reliability rating. And if their rating falls below a certain threshold, then their reports get filtered out.
