I didn't say I believed only government could do it. I wanted to know the alternatives, the drawbacks and how it could be acomplished.

First every individual who choose should be armed.
Second private mecenaries would bid to do the haevt fighting . Those with the best equipment for the buck gets the job. Paid vuluntarily by those of us who care.

Neither Politics nor Diplomacy would not enter into the decision to defend. You screw with us and you die.

And it would be lot's less expensive than our current boondoggle wasteful spending.
