Yes, rather. Any young person with any spirit at all will at some point defy their parents in some ways and rebel. Hopefully, not in dangerous or destructive ways, but the young person who does not ever assert themselves contrary to their parents wishes I view with grave suspicion.

Or were you a goody-two-shoes who never ever did anything other than exactly what your parents told you? I didn't always agree with my parents on things, and I did often resent having restrictions placed on my freedom. But I knew that my parents loved me (and still do), and that anything they told me or restricted me to came from that deep love. I had the wisdom and smarts to listen to them very carefully. I knew that next to God, nobody cared for me more.
