These practices still take place here in America among people that come from these lands. Although the practice may not be as frequent here it is none the less still practiced.

Actually, I think there is a law against this in the U.S. Peppermint Patty Schroeder (D-CO) got a law through that makes this practice illegal for women under age 18. If this is the case, it is probably the only good she did for this country.
