California police chief accused of commuting from IDAHO
Daily Mail ^

A California police chief is under fire for allegedly commuting hundreds of miles from his home in Idaho.

Eamonn Allen, a San Mateo County sheriff's office captain, is accused of sleeping in the Millbrae police station in between the mammoth journeys.

Records indicate that Allen moved into a $1 million 3,773-square-foot home in Meridian, Idaho, last summer.

That places him nearly 700 miles and either a 10-hour drive or about a two-hour flight from Millbrae, where he is the chief of police.

'Not [being] able to return to work on short notice in the event of an emergency is ridiculous,' Richard Corriea, a retired San Francisco police commander, told ABC7.

'You'd want a police chief that's a stakeholder in the community and able to experience the community at a granular level to really understand it and know what's going on, and also to be present on short notice.'

Calls for Allen to be investigated began after fire inspectors visited the Millbrae police station on October 21 and discovered two rooms being used as sleeping quarters.

City spokesperson Annabelle Acosta told NBC Bay Area: 'It appears there are two separate living quarters, one with two beds and the other with one bed.

The city had no knowledge of the dwelling units inside the police station until a routine inspection found them.'

The single-bed space lacked an emergency exit in case of a fire, but allegedly contained a mattress, desk and what looked like a half-gallon of liquor.

A lot of people commute.
How does commuting affect him if he still doing his job?

Accused? Was it stipulated contractually?

Obviously having paid $1 million for a house he couldn’t afford to rent an apartment or motel room so his chiseling of the taxpayers wouldn’t be quite as obvious.

Who can blame him? CA is dangerous and overcrowded and so far Idaho is not.

My daughter sold a beautiful home in Idaho on 10 acres after her husband died. Then city council was obviously bribed into say 5 acres are OK. Daughter’s beautiful home now has another house on her lot and all of her fneighnors have moved away

.Californication really should be a sin and a crime.

“Dual State Citizenship” is illegal in Ca. Has been for decades. If you overstay your welcome while you are on a 14 day “vacation” in Ca it is mandatory you become a resident and Citizen on the 15th day... License and ID, Vehicles, State tax payer... Everything...

Ironically if you don’t you are hit with Illegal immigration penalties and fines...

There are loopholes for “Temporary” workers from out of state, but only for 90 days at a time and then you have to prove you went back into your home State for a substantial length of time in a row. And you CANNOT hold a “full time position” on the books.

Illegally.

It will be an interesting case to watch...if it’s not quashed.

Hey Al, this is an interesting and incredibly complicated result of the Christina Corpus scandal (a woke corrupt broad) (Link provided for necessary background information)

The Millbrae Police Chief is an extraneous, sort-of honorary position, as Millbrae has long ago discontinued and dismissed it's Entire Police Force, (by a vote of the citizenry), and contracted Police Services from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department.

The Millbrae Police Chief opposed Corpus' actions and endorsed her termination.

This kerfuffle is Corpus' retaliation.

He's just smart enough to live in Idaho.

I knew a contract driller who would drive from SW New Mexico to central Idaho and back every two weeks on his 4 days off. It was over 900 miles each way, and he’d do it in around 20 hours with a short nap about midway.

Our President spends time a Mal-a-Largo, but is expected to respond to emergencies, and SNAP funding lapses.

Interesting. I knew a man in Australia who said he bribed local officials to allow him to subdivide and build another residence on his farm. Another fellow he knew also wanted the same thing, and said if they both kicked in 10K, he could get it done. He did and, almost magically, the change in zoning was approved...

Had the opposite happen to a friend in California. Someone was allowed to build on property zoned to small to build on. She complained, but the zoning officials simply refused to enforce the law...

Zoning is a way local officials have significant power. I believe it is often abused.
