It’s definitely dark humor. Usually I like dark humor, but I agree with you in this case.
When I worked for the Forest Service, we burned lots of logging slash with drip torches, using a 3:1 diesel to gasoline mixture. There were stories about people filling a torch with straight gas, but I never saw that happen. Sometimes we used napalm to burn brush piles when it was really rainy and snowy.
On a cold and still morning, gasoline fumes can pool on the ground and ignite several yards from the source.

I’ve seen videos of that. Some guy will pour a whole can of gas on the pile, light it and ...BOOM
That is because polyesters are derived from petroleum. You’re wearing meltable plastic made of oil. It burns like a mofo.
