Per wikipedia the author of that New Republic piece, Ana Marie Cox has bipolar disorder and is the survivor of a couple suicide attempts. She’s obviously suffering from several mental illness if she sincerely believes that the Dems’ problem is that they’re too kind, empathetic and polite.
These are some extremely sick hateful people. That they can be so convinced that they are superior to those who don’t agree with them is extremely disturbing. This is a level of delusion that doesn’t allow for discussion or self-reflection. It’s the kind of mindset that fueled the killings by the Bolsheviks, the death lists by Stalin, and the Holocaust.

They expect to win the coming Civil War. They have the psychopaths mostly on their side.
