The illegal border crossing was increasing at the beginning of the Trump Administration. There were multiple reasons, but the biggest was Biden (while VP) going to Central and South America telling people to come across the border, and providing documentation on how to work the ‘system’.
The illegal crossers rate declined slowly due to actions by President Trump. They were fought tooth and nail by the Deep State. So yes, the situation was marginally better under Trump than it was while Biden was VP and currently.
I would be wary of using the phrase “to be honest”. It implies the speaker is usually not honest. I know the phrase is popular, but that is because most of us parrot each other. Many people use words without fully grasping what the words mean. One day, we will be reduced to the societal level of the movie IDIOCRACY. It’s already happening.
I understand your annoyance with my use of that expression, but I was speaking "among friends." My statement was not intended to be misused as a talking point for the Dems.
For the record: I applaud President Trump's efforts in stanching the flood of illegals.

The demos saw population declines in the city and a national issue with loss of pop and a slowing of natural birth ratses. So a new influx of people was neeede even if they had to go around laws. A Democratic senate to block impeachment allows mayorkas to run ruffshod over laws while deflecting the Congress with half truths and lies to bring low income workers.
They use the state to power of the purse to scatter the new population where they needed it according to demographic and business employment needs. The large corporations that needed the employees did not mind it the chamber of Congress has been clamoring for an expansion of foreign workers, for filling the low paying manual labor they need.
So this may not cover all the groups who want this
Politicians get to keep congressional seats and political power in major cities and blue states.
The large corporations and smaller chamber businesses get needed workers to fill service, industial, and agricultural jobs they are having Americans work.
The population of the US and birth rate decline is put off by a generation or two.
All of this at the expense of existing Americans while bankrupting the US to pay for the scheme likely thinking the us will will survive. All this while international hegdefund managers are likely shorting the US bond and stock markets.
