Spock rejoining the Defiant as Science Officer brings his career full circle, starting in the same position on the Enterprise.

Star Trek has confirmed that Mister Spock’s rank is essentially a lie. An integral figure to the franchise, Spock has held numerous titles, ranks and positions, ranging from Starfleet captain to a member of Worf’s rebel crew. In Star Trek: Defiant #8, as the dust from the god war settles, Worf and his crew are given a new mission by Starfleet. Spock throws in with them, revealing the clout he holds with the Federation.

Worf and the crew of the Defiant are being tried for stealing the ship.
The hearing is being overseen by Admiral Jellico and Admiral Nechayev, who begin by asking what Worf has to say for himself.
Spock suggests the Admirals and Starfleet be more grateful to Worf.
Instead, Starfleet disavows the crew, and Spock takes his leave of them.
Readers learn Worf and company are being pressed into service as bounty hunters. Spock later rejoins them, revealing he forced Starfleet to brief him on the mission, which he joins as Science Officer.

The real Admiral Jellicoe was at the Battle of Rutland in W.W. I and routed the German Fleet.
hybrids live a long time, or there were some time dilation effects of getting trapped near a black hole, or being trapped at a near C velosity for a few minutes subjective time

I am really sure Kirk and Spock both were taught what a woman was, or they were both probably were smart enough to figure it out in their teen years.
Spock if I remember right had no choice but to need a female because his biology compelled him.
