Former Vice President Mike Pence cast the 2024 election as a fight for the future of conservatism and called on fellow Republicans to reject the “siren song of populism” championed by former President Donald Trump and his followers.
“Should the new populism of the right seize and guide our party, the Republican Party we’ve long known will cease to exist and the fate of American freedom would be in doubt,” Pence said in what his campaign plugged as a major speech at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College Wednesday afternoon. […]
Pence linked the right’s populism — promoting a hard focus on ordinary people’s complaints about big government and so-called elites — to progressivism on the left as “fellow travelers on the same road to ruin.” […]
“When Donald Trump ran for president in 2016, he promised to govern as a conservative. And together we did. But it’s important for Republicans to know that he and his imitators on this Republican primary make no such promise today,” Pence said. “The truth is Donald Trump, along with his imitators, often sound like an echo of the progressives they seek to replace.” …

Pence is not too bright.
This colossal phony. Sit down and shut up.
You tell me. With this Bill signed into law by Biden, they've declared that the V.P.'s part in certifying Presidential electors is basically ceremonial, with no power to "determine, accept, reject, or otherwise adjudicate or resolve disputes over the proper list of electors, the validity of electors, or the votes of electors."
Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022
I’ll say it’s unconstitutional. Wouldn’t be the first time Congress ever passed unconstitutional law.
Yes!!! What was in that envelope?
I haven't yet heard that anyone is challenging this law in Federal Court. Forget about Republicans doing anything about it. Too many traitors in the Senate who voted for it.
Hey Mikey, STFU
“Former Vice President Mike Pence cast the 2024 election as a fight for the future of conservatism and his party...”
I don’t give a damn about the future of conservatism and certainly not about the Republican party.
The nation is being destroyed and a disembodied political ideology is not going to save us. It was not political ideology that saved us in World War II.
And Pence is certainly NOT the leader who will save us. A POS leader has never been known to save anyone.
The deep state knows who it is that can defeat them. And it ain’t Mike Pence, for crying out loud.
From the Jeb! Bushie wing of the GOPe.
Your proposal is acceptable.
No one like you, Michael. Save your breath.
Do you mean the populists who finance and send our children to fight your endless wars to protect raw materials and markets of multi-national elites? But Trump isn’t a populist. His economic policies utilize American economic power over military force while maintaining a strong American military and was judicious in it’s use. His policies were nationalist as the Constitution intended.
Article VThe Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.
If this douche is against “populism” why did he run with Trump in 2016 ?
Red herring. Too many challenges to unconstitutional law are thrown out of federal courts on the equally-unconstitutional notion of the plaintiffs not having “standing”.
Never mind 2020.
“Pence rails against Trump’s ‘siren song of populism’”
AGAIN???
populism is nothing more and nothing less than power to the people, AND it’s the opposite of, and the anathema of, the fascist deep state uniparty ...
anyone who “rails” against populism is signaling to the world that they’re a dyed in the wool uniparty fascist deep stater ...
[BTW, i don’t think Pence would come up on his own with the idea of railing against populism: this is something is handlers have ordered him to do ... somehow or other, his handlers think that trying to label Trump a populist would hurt Trump ... whereas, anyone paying attention already KNOWS Trump is a populist and LOVES it!]
‘Populism’ is one of those terms people use like ‘Fascism’. Generally it means “anything I don’t agree with.”
It's no longer a government "of the people, by the people, for the people, for the people." That government, and the people's "standing," has perished.
