I think congress taking action to clarify the role of VP in counting electoral votes as only ceremonial suggests Trump’s argument that Pence could have sent things back to the states in question had some weight.

The riot is what Pelosi and dems needed to attack Republicans and Trump. Trump’s last stand was the legitimate challenge process that has been used before. The riot gave cover to short circuit that process.

Wasn’t it only days earlier Pence said in a speech there were irregularities and they would look at all the evidence on J6?

I tell myself Democrats just exploited covid fears and hyped antitrump fervor enough to generate slight margins in key states but some of their actions suggest more was going on than exploiting fear. War gaming a post election riot at the capitol? Pelosi rejecting national guard? The velvet rope line “insurrectionists” invited in by capitol police? And now we have indictments arguing over whether Trump was calling for peace (reason people read of his tweets) or lying in his tweet claiming they were peaceful but weren’t (TDS).

The cohesiveness of the republic is in deep trouble if questions about election integrity taken to the proper constitutional forum for final arbitration of a presidential election is grounds for criminal prosecution.

Trump has made unforced errors to be sure but the American people, not a Democrat cabal, deserve to decide whether he should be a candidate for POTUS and be the 47th POTUS.

With Trump, promises kept; with Pence, promises broken, shattered even.

The fact that Pence broke that promise flies in the face of his "Too Honest" slogan he is currently pimping.
