A man whose car had been stolen tracked down his vehicle to a Texas shopping center lot - before shooting dead one of the alleged thieves and wounding the other.
Gunfire erupted in the parking lot outside South Park Mall, San Antonio, just before 1pm Thursday after the man figured out where his stolen car was located.
The owner of the stolen car had ordered the driver and his female companion out of the vehicle - and sat them down by the tire at gunpoint while they waited for police.
But the stolen car victim was hit with a bullet when one of the suspected thieves, a male, took a gun out from his waistband and opened fire.
The owner then returned fire - which killed the suspected robber.
A video from the scene showed the dead man lying on the ground - with his female friend receiving help from two people at the scene. She had blood splattered all down her leg, which was attached to a boot. The two were shot during an alleged stolen car confrontation.
Certainly a case of self-defense, is what we have,' San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said. 'We would prefer that they call the police before taking that into your own hands, but he did what he felt he needed to do.'

You have to call the police...
But you are Right There.
You are the "first responder".
Be prepared to act as such.
The police are cleanup crew.
Neither am I conflicted over the outcome. Unfortunate the victim was inconvenienced and injured.
Fight crime, shoot back. He did the right thing. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
I have seen LEOs called *Uniformed Crime Scene Investigators*.
And no, waiting for them to arrive means that no justice will be done.
Of course, job security and all.
However the statement should have been *Certainly a case of self-defense, is what we have,' San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus said. 'We would prefer that they call the police before taking that into your own hands, but he did what he felt he needed to do.'*
I applaud him.
I hope it isn’t taken as a willing participant thing against him. I hope tracking your stolen car down won’t be taken that way. He had a right to get his (stolen property) car back. He didnt fire until the thief opened fire on him. So the thief escalated things in my view. Guy was just trying to get the car back and waiting for cops to arrive.
And a medal should be awarded for getting rid of a pox on that local community. Only too bad she didnt open fire so he could have erased two stains from society.
"Man shoots dead thug who stole his car"

Any idea what that is supposed to mean? I am aware that, in G.B., a "boot" is the "trunk" of the car. But why would her leg be "attached" to it?
Regards,
Epic! We need more of this. Death penalties for all these theives is a good thing at this point.
Imagine that, her leg was attached to a boot, never would’a thunk it.

Real world: "..when seconds count, the police are only minutes away."
Also, the average response time for a 911 call is 23 minutes. The response time for a 45 ACP is 850 feet per second. Which do you prefer?
The news media treats us like children by blocking out bad stuff. We are adults and have seen much worse than that.
Lol, your probably right.
