I’m not going to the DM link and watch the video that they included with the story. I watched the several-minute video a few days ago. He was right to punch her. She had argued with the clerk for some time demanding her purchases be free as part of her reparations. She was rude and threatening and actually chest-bumped the clerk.
When the manager showed up, she kept taking one step after another forward and forced him into walking backwards into the office. You can’t see it on the video, but I think she lunged at him once they crossed the threshold into the office and that is when he knocked her out.
You can tell this “lady” had been trained well in the language. She even does the “do you know who I am?” thing. Even after the cops had arrived she argued her point and said things such as “They were gate-keeping me”, and “I had to move my line”.
She had a thousand dollars worth of stuff in her cart and thought she could “shame” the white clerk into giving it to her free. The clerk even offered her information regarding contacting Target for assistance in groceries through one of their programs. She refused and kept berating the lady.
When she pushed the manager into the office by continually walking towards him as he retreated, he had no avenue of escape. As I said, she deserved the punch and I believe he was in fear of his own safety. The cops reviewed the video and apparently felt the same way. She was charged with menacing and a couple other charges, but I believe all but one of them was dismissed.
The cop replied "we'll get your ID in a minute."
