Bryan Kohberger reportedly threw out trash bags in neighbor's bin after returning to Pennsylvania

Idaho student murders suspect Bryan Kohberger's Pennsylvania trash could be key evidence in the case against him, according to a former investigator turned criminal justice professor.

The 28-year-old criminology Ph.D. student, who past friends say is a former heroin addict with socially awkward tendencies, is accused of massacring four University of Idaho undergrads as they slept in their off-campus home during the pre-dawn hours of Nov. 13 before slipping out the back door in a mask and dark clothes.

Police were still looking for the murder weapon when Latah County Magistrate Judge Megan Marshall imposed a gag order on Jan. 3.

“former heroin addict”

First time I’ve heard that.

Same here.

Also, for him to do such a awful crime, I suspect he had performed other crimes as well and got away with them thus causing him to think he could get away with this one as well. Usually someone who does such a personal, gruesome, and violent crime has escalated to this point after first starting out with smaller acts. LEOs should probably be checking unsolved crimes in areas he has lived or frequented in the past to see if there is a connection to Kohberger.

You guys must not have followed the story closely (a good choice). Immediately after Kohberger’s arrest, a young woman, who knew Kohberger in PA as an erstwhile friend of her brother during their teens, said he had been a major heroin user during high school, went from fat to rail thin, and tricked her into driving him for what turned out to be a drug buy. She wasn’t pleased.

I took it to mean there is no such thing as a “former” heroin addict, as in once an addict always an addict.

I recall reading there were two similar crimes, one near Salem, OR and another in a small town in Washington (maybe Washougel). I think he was cleared in them, but it would be worth investigating again.

Don’t people who do such crimes often start with animal abuse?

I’ve followed it fairly closely (we live 90 miles north of Moscow). I remember the descriptions of him being weird in HS and how he got thin, but did not hear the story of him tricking the girl into driving him to a drug buy.

A strange thing about this case is that the defendant’s public defender was an attorney to two of the murdered girls parents.
