A Mississippi woman who married a man 61 years her senior says she’s ready to start a family with her new husband — despite the fact he’s a decade older than her own grandpa. Miracle Pogue, 24, met hubby Charles, 85, while working at a laundromat in Starkville in 2019, with the pair forming a friendship that turned romantic a year later.

Miracle told Kennedy News of the moment she learned about her husband’s advanced age, saying: “I found out in conversation when we asked each other our date of birth and he said he was born in 1937.”
“I never even placed his age, we just wanted to see how it went. I don’t care if he’s 100 or 55, I like him for him. I thought he was maybe 60 or 70 because he looks so good,” she added. “He’s always up and active.”

Southern gothic ethos is alive and well. Carry on, Mr. and Mrs. Pogue of Starkville, MS.
When I lived in da bronx the 80 year old super down the block would get him some ho’s every weekend. Probably be way cheaper than what it’s going to cost the old guy in the article.
Could be a retirement benefit thing? I remember the civil war vet, had a pension, married a 16 YO girl around WW I time. She lived and drew his pension until the 80’s. He just wanted to take care of her-—and he did.
Bumping this thread in case I have the same problem when I’m 85.
You’re only as old as the woman you feel.
Dear New York Post,
I’m 18 and my husband Laz is 95. He wanted me to write and tell you that.
In the years following the Civil War, veterans and their spouse were given a pension for life.
By the late 1920s, those elderly veterans were quite the catch for a young lady. Marry the old fellow and after his passing collect his pension for the rest of her life. I’ve read that the last living pension recipient was a lady who married under a similar arrangement and had collected on her late husband’s veteran’s pension for over 50 years after his passing.

if he didn't have inflation increases it probably wasn't worth much 50 years later.
So she’s ready.
Is he?
They better get cracking on this plan of theirs or it could go the way of mice and men.
