Garcia, the former mayor of Long Beach, tweeted that he will take the oath on an original Superman #1 comic from the collection of the Library of Congress.
The self-described 'Comic Book Nerd' will also place his hand on top of his Naturalization certificate and a photo of his parents. He lost both of them to COVID in 2020.
'Will be proudly sworn-in to Congress on the U.S. Constitution. Underneath the Constitution will be 3 items that mean a lot to me personally. A photo of my parents who I lost to covid, my citizenship certificate & an original Superman #1 from the @libraryofcongress,' he wrote, with a smiley emoji and one of the American flag.
But before any House members can take the oath, House Republicans must sort out a bitter internal feud to elect a speaker, something they were unable to do Tuesday. Another Superman fan, former President Donald Trump, publicly threw his support to embattled Rep. Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday.

Imagine what the workers at the Long Beach shipyards in WWII would have thought if they knew that 70 years on the city they lived in would be dominated by foreign trash like this.
I can do better than that. If IâÂÂm ever elected, IâÂÂll rest my hand on a Bible that sits on top of a âÂÂWantedâ poster calling for arrest and prosecution of Hillary.

This “look at me!” moment provides a clear indication of how some people elected to positions of power and influence view their sacred oath of office ... and which also provides an explanation of why more than a few of those people behave the way they do once they are “sworn in.”
