All true except for the Russians owning the air space. They may have the planes and the helicopters but they will get shot down if they dare to use them in Ukrainian air space. It's not Syria.

That was easy. Afghanistan is a primitive society. They didn't hold on to the country though.
Russia was able to turn around the war in Syria and save Assad from getting overthrown. But in that country, no one could challenge Russian air superiority. They can't do that in Ukraine, obviously.
