Hemp, or industrial hemp, is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant but contains deficient levels of the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) compared to marijuana, which is another variety. The plant being discussed is not the marijuana that gets people high. And there have been groups advocating the use of hemp for many things long before the issue of excess carbon came along. Is probably worth considering.

In America we used to grow a lot of hemp but Hearst who owned newspapers and timber to make the paper wanted it banned. The cotton farmers also lobbied against hemp.
Hemp is strong and fast growing and can be used for rope and all kinds of products.
