“Do I wipe front to back, or back to front?”

depends upon whether one is male or female ...

I don’t have a front hole.

Is she going to send people out to shovel all that snow?

Spent a week in NV. Temps over 100. I barely broke into a sweat with almost no humidity.

Someone explain to me how you even begin to shovel 4 or 6 feet of snow?

“if I didn’t, I’d pay some kid to do it.”

In today’s world, it’s impossible to find a kid who’ll do anything for money, especially shovel snow. Snowflakes shoveling snowflakes — not gonna happen.

I grew up in Hamburg. Lotsa snow, sometimes up to the bottom of the upstairs windows.

This storm is dropping heavy wet snow.

I live thru that every winter here in S.E. Michigan.

With all that heavy snow, flat roofs are especially vulnerable to collapsing and unless you're a fit teenager, shoveling that volume of snow from your driveways will almost kill you.

I really feel for those folks going thru this

“shoveling snow about 6 weeks before her 100th birthday.”

Oh, my. You’re from sturdy stock!

State to start making background checks to purchase snow shovels? State to start banning snow shovels from public areas, including churches, sidewalks, near abortion clinics, etc.?

I won’t make it anywhere near that age. Grandma was still living alone at 99 and was the oldest licensed driver in the state. I last met her when she was 93; she was getting fairly stooped over but was as mentally sharp as ever. She never smoked, but liked a good belt of scotch in the evening.

I’m not sure how you realistically shovel 4 or 5ft deep of snow. Pretty much need a truck, tractor or loader.

Imagine having a electric car and you have to charge it but A) cannot locate your car under all the global warming and B) the power cord zaps you as it gets wet from the snow and C) worse of all is the electric grid is out due to the storm.

Also all the electric snowplows and electric dump trucks and electric utility trucks and electric ambulances are also unavailable.

No natural gas either as the democrats are banning that energy source so now you freeze to death like they will do in europe.

First you tunnel.... like this guy did.

He’s lucky.

Kids in upstate New York have died in previous years when their snow tunnels collapsed.

We grew up without snowblowers and snowplows and survived the lake effect storms.

I just can't take it:
...and a third died when their plow crashed.
And why the past perfect "had" here?
The Starke County Sheriff's Department confirmed that a third person had died on Friday...
Is "they" no longer dead? (I know grammar is.)

And, finally,
One Hamburg resident showed off the sheer magnitude of the snowfall when they opened their garage door...
Maybe a horde of solecistic journalists opened the garage door for him.

Somebody, please hit me over the head w/ my now useless Cambridge Grammar of English enyclopedia.

seriously what is the advance mitigation strategy ? I have never seen more than maybe 3 or 4 feet, but since it was obvious I went out and shoveled every hour or 2 depending on the accumulation I am sure salt is good too. I know that heated driveways are a thing too.

Great images at the link.

Typical lake effect snow event.

I’ve shoveled out of enough that look like that in my day.
