BEFORE THE EVENTS related in this excerpt, Giancarlo Granda was just another 20-year-old Miami high school graduate: pool attendant at an iconic Miami Beach hotel, eager to please, ambitious, open to suggestion. A chance poolside encounter with Becki and then Jerry Falwell Jr., first-born son of an evangelical legend and his attractive 40-ish wife intrigued him. He acted on a lark, and was suddenly in the middle of a complex sexual affair with Becki. The affair gave Granda a firsthand view of immense wealth, unexpurgated power and unwavering faith, as well as the duplicity and destruction it takes to maintain their illusion.
(The Falwells have denied Granda’s account and insist that Jerry was not a participant in the affair.)
A decade later, it all looks very different. Their predatory nature, abuse of power, complete lack of moral compass and monumental hypocrisy is breathtaking to look back across the full sweep of it. In this excerpt from their new book Off the Deep End: Jerry and Becki Falwell and the Collapse of an Evangelical Dynasty, co-authors Giancarlo Granda and Mark Ebner recount how those first few tentative steps set Granda on a dizzying path to near destruction.
At the tail end of the high season at the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami, on March 13, 2012, I was close to ending my shift at around 4:00 p.m, when I noticed a woman staring at me. She was camped out in my section—maybe in her mid-forties, attractive, fit, and very charismatic, stretched out on one of the poolside daybeds in a bikini. Daybeds are way more comfortable than the lounge chairs, and the going rate was $150 a day, so anyone with a daybed already had my attention.

The evidence of Jerry Falwell Sr. being a slimeball is the direct quote I gave you from his comments that he made on air in September 2001.
Good visual - a really good one.
Never heard of Jerry Falwell, Sr. committing adultery. Have you a source?
Jerry Sr. was clean as a whistle — much like Billy Graham. His kid ... eeewwww.
Like I said, it’s obvious you dislike him. His comment is controversial, but to ascribe the perversions of his son to him without evidence is slander.
I never said he did. I said he was a slimeball who raised a slimeball of a son.
You might be right but I am young enough so Jerry Falwell, Sr. was before my time. I reserve my judgment about him until I hear more.
I’m not saying they had the same vice. I’m saying they were both slime.
What often happens in powerful families is that the father is very neglectful of his children. He just assumes that, if there are no very obvious problems, that their children are fine.
Jerry Falwell Sr. may have been a great preacher and great pastor, but it would appear that he wasn’t the best of fathers.

And even with Flynt, Falwell reaching out testimony and forgiveness. They exchanged Christmas cards. After Jerry died, Flynt wrote a tribute to him and said that somehow, unexpectedly, Falwell became his friend.
That may be more likely. It still doesn’t mitigate the fact that the headline is misleading.
Makes sense. It could be that he didn't have the time for his family.
Ezekiel 18:19-21
21st Century King James Version
19 “Yet say ye, ‘Why? Doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father?’ When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all My statutes and hath done them, he shall surely live.
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed and keep all My statutes and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live: he shall not die.
There’s a special place in hell for those who exploit people’s faith for gain.
You got butthurt over a person going on a network that deals with Spiritual healing. Bible verse up this thread is part of that context ignoramus. Context, which your god/bad comedian “Stewart” relishes in, extracting the context and manipulating weak minded people like you who worship their synapses.
Entropy is everything in this realm, violent many times, the spiritual lasts for eternity though; you hate God, especially Christians (Deep down) and you love to “cherry pick” “bad apples” while ignoring the billions of examples throughout history that brought Truth to light. I get that, but as always, context, not emotion, is King regarding quotes.
This story about Jerry Falwell Jr. strategically timed for the weeks before E-Day November 8th IMHO.
Falwell Jr.’s greatest sin in the “Rolling Stone” version of the Scripture is no doubt supporting Donald J. Trump for POTUS.
At the least, it was his “unforgivable “ sin.
