Just handling fentanyl can kill you in about 45 minutes. You may not even realize you handled it. You get dizzy and drop after about 20 minutes after handling it. Eventually you stop breathing.

A 20 something living at home down the street from us almost killed his mom that way. She was cleaning his room. She felt dizzy and went next door to ask for help. She never made it inside. The EMT showed up in about five minutes and after they assessed her they hit her in the IV with Narcan. In ten seconds she was breathing. She gained consciousness at the hospital.

The kid is in a 3 month court ordered rehab-detox. Mom is fine now. Close call.
