The ultimate betrayal is when a supposedly mature adult abandons an innocent child he’s raised as his own. However, if the parents are this irresponsible about marriage and family, then maybe the little boy might have a better chance through adoption.
The way he did it was awful. He should have left when the child was with the mother. Then again, after getting hit with something like that, I can see how he might not have been thinking clearly. That’s THE worst betrayal imaginable.
The ones who really bear the blame are the mother and the man she created the child with. He bears responsibility. He’s the one who needs to raise that child - not this poor schlub.
