A Republican lawmaker from Texas is determined to file legislation to ban drag shows in the presence of minors just days after video surfaced online showing children attending a show in Dallas over the weekend.
Texas Rep. Bryan Slaton, R-Mineola, tweeted on Monday that he plans to introduce legislation aimed at 'protecting kids from drag shows and other inappropriate displays.'
The announcement came after videos surfaced online showing children attending a drag show at a pride month event in Dallas over the past weekend.
The event in Dallas, titled 'Drag The Kids To Pride,' invited parents to bring their kids along for a drag show, and featured children dancing alongside men dressed in drag beneath a pink neon sign reading 'It's not gonna lick itself.'
Outraged protesters arrived to picket the event, while the shows promoters and participants defended the day as nothing more than an opportunity for people to share joy about who they are.
The controversial pride event in Dallas over the weekend comes as debate rages across the country about how gender identity and children should interact.
Photos and footage from the event on Saturday showed adults sitting on stools surrounding a long narrow runway stage in the middle of the room.
As parents sipped on drinks with kids seated at their side, drag queens in dresses and glitter leotards danced along the stage, at times inviting the children to walk down the runway with them.
The drag queens snatched dollar bills from children's outstretched hands, all beneath the glow of a pink neon sign reading 'It's not gonna lick itself.'
On Monday, Rep. Slaton tweeted that he will be filing legislation to ban drag shows in the presence of children.

it’s beyond sick that we even have to pass legislation banning this- it NEVER should happen in front of minors- Ever! Our moral compass should be such that allowing these shows isn’t even a thought-
On Clay and Buck show, it was pointed out that if you had female group stripping in front of young males, then Children Services would step in.
The vile kiddie-sex obsessed monsters will keep coming like wave after wave after wave. In our time we have never witnessed such depravity. These empty souls have an unbelievable unquenchable appetite to destroy the innocence of our precious little ones.
What we are seeing is the beginning of an unstoppable push to condition society for the normalizing of sex between adults and kids. The radical left have the media/entertainment/academia/government under control and marching to the drumbeat.
They already have removed the Bible and any mention of a judgmental God from our schools. Any/all historical guardrails that hold a society to a moral code have been destroyed.
Soon, Bible believing/Christ affirming individuals will be hunted down and taunted unmercifully. Ultimately their employers will be pressured to fire believers. Churches will have services interrupted by BLM/Antifa/radical type drones screaming and cursing and stripping off their clothes.
Believers will be sought out and identified for harassment and starvation until they repent and curse God.
